Things I Am Looking Forward To

  • Caprese salads from the farmers' market
  • Regional Beerfest
  • M&A's wedding
  • Going on that trip someplace tropical, luxurious, and indulgent
  • Getting a tattoo once the poison is out of my system

I do have something in mind--something traditional, not small, and on my upper back.

...although a caprese salad tattoo would be pretty tuf. :)

New Poll! Location and design of new tat!

Jeff and I had been thinking of doing an Ironman just for the tat; now that's sounding pretty wimpy compared to Slaying Cancer.

Hee--You know, I have thought about that as a possible poll topic, but it seems odd asking when I pretty much know exactly what I'm getting and feel weird not disclosing all the details, even tho I'm the one who brought it up.

Classic attention whore/drama queen maneuver: "Don't look at me!" [...] "Why aren't you looking at me?!"

This is kinda weird... I am NOT a tattoo-guy - more of an IT geek, really. But as a result of my cancer diagnosis I thought about getting a tattoo (a real one - not the three magic dots that they gave me so they could position the radiation-zapper). I had almost decided to pull the proverbial trigger, and then chickened out since I hated the whole hurt-thing that I experienced through acupuncture. I was going to get a small one, and it was going to be a bumblebee... because everyone knows that those darned things just shouldn't be able to fly and yet they do.

Just needed to share that. Never told my wife and daughter and now I've told everyone that reads your blog. Oh well.

Ed--I'm sure you know better than anyone that IT geeks and tattoo freaks are not mutually exclusive concepts, especially hailing from the PacNW. :)

Getting a tattoo feels like being scratched by a cat--bearable for 45 minutes but pretty taxing when you get a large piece done over a number of sessions...or so says the husband.

For me, the two toughest parts of getting a tattoo was what to get and where to put it. Oh, and one of the best beers I ever had was the one I had after getting inked. Beers 2-5 weren't so bad, either. ;)
