While I've been a dedicated pescatarian for nearly nine years now, I've decided that if I ever have the opportunity to eat an amphibian or reptile that I've never had before, I'm going to try it.
Which is why, last night, I tried frog legs for the first time. And yes, they do taste like chicken. Scrawny, bony, chicken. And I kept on eating 'em, even after Jody dropped a Kermit reference.

you know - when i was in australia, i had crocodile without even a second thought (tasted like calamari to me) but i don't think i could do the frog legs. and i know they are supposed to taste like chicken - i don't know what it is - i've got a mental block. t
there was an article recently in TIME magazine about using insects in recipes - being a good source of protein and much better for the environment to raise than sources of red meat. it did focus on the gross out factor and how there is a small movement to get people over it. i don't know - i think i'd do frog legs over the beetles but the worms over the frog legs...
i couldn't be prouder if it was kermit himself. why only reptiles i wonder?

HH--I don't know if I could do bugs...don't think I would enjoy their crunchiness.
JB--Amphibians & reptiles are lower on the food chain than birds & mammals. Also, I've pretty much tried every bird/mammal I'd want to (well, not bison or buffalo or ostrich or rabbit, but I think I could live without those) but haven't really dabbled in the aph/reptile dept.
PS: I friended NJ on the Facebooks...does she check her account much?
I will ask her- I don't think she does though. Thank you btw for the ecard. You rock. JB
