- When my husband was in the military and would go on his six month deployments, people would be all "Oh, you're so strong, I don't know how you do it, blahblah compassionate noisescakes." The thing is, there is no choice. You put your head down and grind it out and one day you wake up and your life is back to normal. In December 2007, they found a mass in my rectum. This is My Cancer Deployment.

That's when you have your last treatment? Awesome!
I've had a badge for Stand Up 2 Cancer for a few weeks now. I honestly hope the broadcast does some good. The government has cut back so much money for cancer research over the past five years that it's really sad.
Actually, I finished chemo a little over two weeks ago (still dealing with side effects, unfortch, but they're getting a little better).
Friday is my surgery date for the reversal of my ileostomy. Words cannot describe how much I've been looking forward to that day.
Actually, these words can: Since the second I woke up with it.
Hope you've since turned the chemo corner! :)
Having had a fistula last year I can understand how you feel. I wanted to do cartwheels when I found out I was having the reversal done. I think dealing with the fistula was one of the hardest things I've ever had to endure.
I hope the reversal goes well. I will definitely keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Lisa--You had a fistula ON TOP of everything else? Sweet merciful crap, you are due for a BREAK, woman!
There was a point at which I was worried I might have had a fistula (due to the radiation) and that was one of the hardest and lowest points in this whole process.
Fortunately, it was just weirdness caused by the rad treatments, but the thought alone was horrifying. I can imagine how difficult it would be to deal with one.
