Grocery Shopping is Hard...

...when it hurts to reach into the freezer case and even walk through the refrigerated section.
...when nothing--NO-THING--looks appetizing.

Aren't I supposed to be over the side-effects by now?

I'm actually starting to get pretty freaked out by how long this is lasting, particularly the fact that I can't seem to keep any fluids in me.

Oh yeah, and my hair is a fright and I look like a ghoul because I can't muster the interest to eat anything. It's like the appetite part of my brain has completely switched off. That, and I have major heartburn and minor abdominal pain to go with.

I'm ready to feel normal again.

ETA: My oncologist is having me come in for IV fluids. Probably a good idea.

I'm sorry you're feeling so miserable! Glad your doc is getting you in for the fluids - hope that helps a little and that you're starting to turn the corner today. You will feel better soon; hang in there!

... and I keep wondering about (but not writing about) about the potential for medical marijuana as a possibility. The word verification seemed to have read my mind, because it started out mj and then kept repeating j's every other letter....

That, and/or it was thinking Jamba Juice...

The fluids are very important, and I am glad that the doc feels that IV is appropriate right now. From my experience, this period of darkness will pass (though probably not as quickly as you hope). My system liked Prilosec OTC for the heartburn, and I would take it prophylactically two days before chemo through the end of the steroids (three days post-chemo).

I am pulling for you, and know that you can get through this peiod.

Sorry you're feeling so bad, Brigita. In theory, you should eat the stuff that's best for you- first because they will help you the most, and second because even the ones that taste bad normally are probably as equally unappetizing as the ones that are normally yummy. Maybe your appetite is in bizarro world right now and you should look at things you normally don't like. But what do I know, really. Hoping you feel better soon. \/

Thanks for all your support guys. I basically got caught in a nasty spiral: getting behind in my beverage consumption which led to dehydration which made me nauseous which made me less inclined to eat or drink...

I'm happy to report that I've got a pretty decent appetite back and am looking forward to sucking down milkshakes from Michael's and Jamba Juice just as soon as the cold sensitivity wears off.

I'm also well armed with all manner of scrips to keep each and every one of my maladies in check. I probably also wouldn't turn down some MJ brownies these days... ;)
